How to Prepare for Your Immigration Medical Exam

Everything you need to know before, during, and after your USCIS Form I-693 immigration medical exam at our Costa Mesa clinic.

Before Your Appointment

Complete these steps before your appointment day to ensure a smooth visit:

  • Gather all vaccination records — US and foreign
  • Confirm your vaccination records are organized and accessible
  • Review any USCIS paperwork you have received
  • Bring your I-485 receipt notice if available
  • Confirm your government-issued photo ID (passport preferred)
  • Arrange for a trusted interpreter if you need language assistance

Day of Your Appointment

Arrive 10 Minutes Early

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to complete check-in paperwork.

What to Wear

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. You will need to roll up your sleeve for lab draws and vaccinations.

No Fasting Required

You do not need to fast before your immigration medical exam. Eat normally and stay well hydrated.

Free parking is available in the building lot at 2900 Bristol St. #C207, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. We are located on the second floor.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Check-In

Arrive and complete check-in paperwork. Our staff will review your documents and vaccination records.

Laboratory Testing

Lab work is completed first at our office — no outside lab visit needed. This includes TB testing and any required blood work.

Wait for Lab Processing

Some lab results require a short processing period. Our staff will keep you informed of timing.

Exam with Civil Surgeon

Our USCIS-designated civil surgeon conducts your full physical examination and reviews your vaccination history.

Vaccinations (if needed)

Any required vaccines are administered at our office. We stock all USCIS-required vaccines.

Receive Your I-693 Timeline

We will confirm your delivery timeline — standard 3-day or expedited 2-day — before you leave.

Length of Visit

Most immigration medical exam appointments take 60 to 90 minutes. The exact duration depends on your vaccination requirements and lab processing time. Appointments with more required vaccines may take slightly longer.

After Your Appointment

Standard 3-Day Turnaround

Your sealed I-693 envelope is typically ready within 3 business days of your exam.

Expedited 2-Day Service

Need it faster? Ask about our expedited service at the time of your appointment.

Sealed Envelope Requirement

Your I-693 will be provided in a sealed USCIS-compliant envelope. Do not open it — submit it to USCIS as-is.

Digital Copy for Attorneys

We can provide a digital copy of supporting documentation to your immigration attorney upon your written authorization.

Follow-Up if Needed

If USCIS requires additional documentation or a follow-up, contact us and we will assist you promptly.
