How to Reschedule Your Appointment

Rescheduling your immigration medical exam is straightforward. Contact our office by phone or through our online scheduling portal as soon as you know you need to change your appointment. Our front desk staff will work with you to find the next available time slot that fits your schedule.

When you call or message to reschedule, have your original appointment date and time ready, along with your preferred new dates. We will do our best to accommodate your request quickly, especially if you have an upcoming USCIS interview or filing deadline that depends on your completed Form I-693.

How Much Notice Should I Give?

We ask that you give us at least 24 to 48 hours of advance notice whenever possible. This allows us to offer your original appointment slot to another applicant who may be waiting, and it ensures our civil surgeon and clinical staff can plan their schedule accordingly.

We understand that emergencies happen. If you need to reschedule with less than 24 hours of notice due to a sudden illness, family emergency, or other unforeseen circumstance, please contact us as soon as possible. We handle these situations on a case-by-case basis and will do our best to accommodate you without penalty.

For routine schedule changes — such as a conflict with work or travel — please try to give us as much notice as you can. The more notice you provide, the easier it is for us to find you a convenient new appointment time.

Will I Forfeit My Examination Fee?

In most cases, rescheduling your appointment does not result in forfeiture of your examination fee, provided you notify us within our cancellation window. If you have already paid a deposit or the full examination fee at the time of booking, that payment will be applied to your rescheduled appointment.

However, if you fail to appear for your appointment without notifying us in advance (a "no-show"), a cancellation or no-show fee may apply. Please review our current fee and cancellation policy when you book your appointment, or contact our office for the most up-to-date information.

How Rescheduling Affects Your I-693 Validity

The validity period of your completed Form I-693 is an important consideration when deciding whether and when to reschedule. USCIS considers a Form I-693 valid for two years from the date the civil surgeon signs it, provided it is submitted to USCIS within that two-year window. The clock starts on the date of your examination — not the date you file your I-485 or attend your USCIS interview.

If you are close to a USCIS interview date or a filing deadline, rescheduling your medical exam could push your I-693 completion date closer to — or past — a critical deadline. Before rescheduling, check your USCIS notice to confirm whether there is a specific date by which your medical exam results must be submitted.

Conversely, if your USCIS interview is still many months away, rescheduling by a few weeks is unlikely to cause any problems. The key is to ensure your completed I-693 will still be valid at the time USCIS reviews it.

What to Do If You Have an Urgent Timeline

If you have an upcoming USCIS interview, a filing deadline, or another time-sensitive immigration milestone, let us know when you call to reschedule. We maintain a cancellation list and can often accommodate urgent requests when a slot opens up on short notice.

In some cases, we may be able to offer an early-morning or late-afternoon appointment to fit your schedule. We also recommend checking our online scheduling portal regularly, as cancellations can open up new slots throughout the day.

If your timeline is extremely tight — for example, your USCIS interview is within the next two weeks — please call our office directly rather than using the online portal. Our staff can assess the situation and work with you to find the fastest possible solution.

Multi-Step Appointments and Rescheduling

Some immigration medical examinations require more than one visit. For example, if you need a tuberculosis (TB) skin test (TST), you must return 48 to 72 hours after the initial placement to have the test read. If you reschedule your initial appointment, your follow-up read appointment will also need to be rescheduled accordingly.

Similarly, if you are in the middle of a multi-dose vaccine series — such as the hepatitis B series — rescheduling may affect the timing of subsequent doses. Our clinical staff will advise you on how to proceed when you call to reschedule, ensuring your vaccination series stays on track.
