Immigration Medical Exams for Seniors
Compassionate, unhurried immigration medical exams for older adults. We take the time to understand your health history and ensure a comfortable, thorough exam.
Special Considerations for Seniors
Older adults have unique health considerations that require careful attention during the immigration medical exam process.
Chronic Conditions
Many older adults have chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease. Our Civil Surgeon reviews your medical history carefully and documents relevant conditions on Form I-693.
Current Medications
Please bring a complete list of all current medications. Some medications may affect vaccine recommendations or lab results. Our physician will review your medication list before the exam.
Mobility Considerations
Our clinic is accessible and we accommodate patients with mobility limitations. Please let us know in advance if you need any special accommodations.
Vaccine History
Older adults often have extensive vaccination histories. Bring all available records. Titer tests can confirm immunity for vaccines received decades ago.
Vaccine Review for Older Adults
Seniors have specific vaccine requirements and recommendations. Our Civil Surgeon reviews your complete vaccination history.
Pneumococcal (PCV15/PCV20 or PPSV23)
Required for applicants age 65 and older. Protects against pneumonia and other pneumococcal diseases.
Influenza
Required annually during flu season. High-dose formulations are available for adults 65 and older.
Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
One dose required if not previously received as an adult. Td booster every 10 years.
Hepatitis B
Required for all applicants. Titer testing can confirm prior immunity.
COVID-19
Primary series required. Boosters recommended per CDC schedule for older adults.
Shingles (Shingrix)
Not a USCIS requirement, but strongly recommended for adults 50 and older. We can administer this vaccine at your visit.
Medical History Review
A thorough medical history review is an important part of the immigration medical exam for seniors. Please bring the following to your appointment:
- List of all current prescription and over-the-counter medications
- Records of any prior surgeries or hospitalizations
- Documentation of chronic conditions (diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc.)
- Prior vaccination records or immunization history
- Results of any recent lab work or medical tests
- Name and contact information for your primary care physician
What Happens During the Medical History Review
Our Civil Surgeon will ask about your current health conditions, medications, prior surgeries, and any history of communicable diseases. This information is used to complete Form I-693 accurately.
Having a chronic condition does not disqualify you from the exam. Most well-managed conditions are simply documented on the form. Our physician will explain what is required for your specific situation.
Compassionate Care
We understand that the immigration process can be stressful, especially for older adults. Our team is committed to making your experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Unhurried Appointments
We schedule extra time for senior patients. You will never feel rushed during your exam.
Family Members Welcome
Bring a family member or caregiver for support. They are welcome throughout the entire visit.
Bilingual Staff
We have Spanish-speaking staff and can arrange for additional language assistance. Please let us know your preference when scheduling.
